Any garden feature using wood necessarily involves a risk of rotting and decay over time. In most instances you'll need to properly treat and stain the wood in order to protect it from the elements, with regular re-applications to keep the protection levels up. But how do you know which treatment to choose? How can you be sure that you'll choose the right treatment to keep your wood in the best condition?
The last thing you want is your timber decking turning into rotten, slippery or decayed wood which makes an eyesore of your garden. Which is why the only sensible option is to purchase pre-treated, non-slip decking.
Decking which is treated with eco preservative is both environmentally friendly and practical. The biocides contained in Tanalith E wood preservative are being supported under the Biocidal Products Directive. So you can be sure using decking treated with eco preservative won't harm your surrounding environment. Also eco preservative is not classified as hazardous waste. Wood treated with eco preservative benefits from a 15 year warranty against decay and insect attack.
Treated timber decking is therefore a low-maintenance addition to your garden design and your home in general. Although we recommend washing down the surface of the timber and the inserts every 12 months - to remove dirt and mould build up, there is no need to apply further preservative treatment.
