First Post, another Bobber, but its my bobber
Picked up the 2004 vstar classic Silverado off the craigslist a few months back, had 4200 miles on it and it had been sitting a LONG time, dead batteries, gummed up carbs all that good stuff. These 650's make really sweet little bobbers, they're cheap, they're reliable, they're even relatively comfortable. I think I have around 2300 in the bike total, including purchase, the bulk of my expense was the handlebars, cables, and new tires.
I went with a 14" ape, the exhaust I made myself (first time wrapping anything as you can tell), the rear fender is a trailer fender I cut down (18 bucks at the local tractor supply) and the seat is the cheapest thing amazon had to offer, but it turned out ok. I had to build custom bracket for the seat to perch on and the rear fender to bolt to. Also I wasn't going to do the denim black, the bike was already black...that really pretty black with the subtle metallic...but the tank took a dive off my work table onto the concrete and put a nice dent in it, so...I had to do some work on the tank and just went with the good old John Deere Blitz Black. Anyway, its been a fun little build, it sounds mean as heck and so far has gotten some thumbs up.
I now have a box FULL of parts I yanked off the bike, fenders, crash bars, handle bars, exhaust...not sure what to do with all that crap cluttering up my shop.
My wife calls it "my ugly bike" and that's fine with me. Anyway, what do you think of my ugly bike?
