vstar 1100 starter clutch replacement went well, until...
I was pretty proud of my self. I took on the project of replacing my starter clutch. Went smooth until I attempted to tighten the rotor down. Looks like I did not have the gears all lined up as I thought and ended up breaking a piece off the cam chain gear Sprocket off. I have not been able to figure out how to remove the gear/sprocket without taking the cylinder head off. Is taking the cylinder off the only way?

Thanks
Dan

There's no way around this beleave me when I tell you this I did it too you have to pull the motor out and take off the head in order to get the timing gear up and out of the cavity it's a bitch MARK EVERYTHING with whiteout so you know how to put it back especially the timing chain and marks.good luck

I was afraid that the answer you gave was the correct one. I figured it as I saw no way of getting the gear out without removing the head. Any ideas what the cost would be to have a shop do that? The bike is already torn down to that point, so the engine would have to be removed, head removed and replaced. I have the rest of the required access areas torn apart.
