The advantage of 2 into 1 exhaust
Is there an advantage? I prefer two pipes all the way back. But I think that is looks. But is there a power gain for one over the other? Or it is negligible?

i believe supposedly on the 1100 that you are considering that they do say the 2 into 1 does have a little power gain over the twin, but like you said the twin looks so much better, have had twin on my 1100 since got her, rejetted the carb, did air box mod, plenty of power for all around town riding.

Hmmmm. This, more than reduced back pressure, might explain the slight loss of low-end torque when I put the V&H Cruzers on my 650. The stock 650 pipes have a crossover tube between the pipes just ahead of the mufflers.

It doesn't really matter except from an interest/trivia point, though. The Cruzers sound so much better than my stock exhaust that I'll gladly live with the slight torque reduction, and I'm over 200 lbs. If I planned on riding two-up a lot with a heavy passenger I might reconsider the relative merits of torque vs. sound, but as it stands there is still ample torque for 1-up riding.

To know if there is a difference in torque, you need to put the machine on a dynamometer. Seat-of-the-pants assessments are pretty subjective. The rule of thumb is: "The more money and time you spend on a modification, the higher the perceived improvement will be." Shy The human mind works in strange ways.
It's an 07 1100 Silverado with 2900 miles and the guy wants $3500. People tell me to second guess the purchase because "it's too cheap, there must be something wrong with it". I wouldn't buy it Sight unseen though. It's about an hour from me.

If a dealer had it they would be asking over $4,000 for it. See Retail on it. Definitely do not buy it Sight Unseen.

Edit: From looking at the pictures it appears to be a nice bike. I would be hiking over there to take a look at it.
It does "seem" a little low to me. Maybe I am not attuned to the value of bikes over cars though. I do not know why that is though. Maybe because I think that the Silverado model is a premium model? Dunno. I will check it out if I get a chance.

Exactly, exhaust scavenging is the reason that a 2 in to 1 provides slightly better performance. Biggrin
