RE: 1100 front brake bleeding= mission
WOW !!!! Bleeding brakes to septic cleaning to death...

I used speed bleeder on the Jeep and they made brake work a lot easier. They make them for at least some bikes (didn't check if Yamaha was on the list), but the excerpt below is accurate, it really is that easy.

Now back to septic tanks and ammo.

Unscrew the Speed Bleeder® 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

Here comes the magical part. Slowly pump the brake pedal approximately 4-5 times. (You do not have to close the bleeder screw between pumps.) A one way check valve lets the air and fluid out when the pedal is pressed and closes between pumps preventing new air from reentering the system between pumps.

Brake lines are great but looks like the window on the front master cylinder is weeping.... Yay... More bleeding to come

Resurrecting my own thread...
Thinking bout all the trouble I had bleeding the front brakes and reading about how some guys had no issues...
I ordered a new master cylinder off ebay- aftermarket but to fit the vstar 1100.

Noticed the location where the lines fit is in a more practical spot for the direction of the pump & fluid. I guess the newer model vstars adopted this approach? I'm hoping it bleeds better & works better.
Old one could just be worn out too.

Some info for anyone looking on eBay for a new front master cylinder.
The one bought in the above pic is this one
Good price and decent quality. The ad is for a vstar but turns out it's actually a universal part.
It works well and bled really easily which is fantastic BUT the mirror thread is a right handed 10mm hole instead of the crazy Yamaha left hand thread.
So now I either will buy 2 new aftermarket mirrors or find another secondhand left hand mirror which I can the use in the new master cylinder.
So anyone eyeing off the same master cylinder- consider your mirrors.
