Gas cap leaking
Ive seen some threads about this before and it seems like a common problem with the v stars. I have a 2003 vstar 1100 and it has an aftermarket gas cap on it.
It is the LA choppers weld on insert and cap. I cant seem to fill up my tank more than 3/4 before it will pour out of the vent of the cap. The first time i filled it and it leaked I figured i just filled it too much. But after I wouldnt even fill it to the bottom of the filler neck portion and it would still leak once i got the bike off of the kickstand and started riding. Now my paint has seen better days on the tank from all of the leaking. Is this just a thing that will always happen or is there some fix??

Gas cap leaking
Can you remove the cap tube and just put a stock cap back on? It might need a new gasket in the cap, can it be replaced? Was the tube welded correctly, it might have a gap somewhere letting the gas out.

RE: Gas cap leaking
This aftermarket cap is welded on so i dont know how easy it would be to put the stock back on. The gasket looks fine and appears to be installed correctly
